Bounce Back Stronger

Pause for a moment and think of someone you really admire. Did they have an easy life? Or did they beat all odds and overcome some type of adversary. Most of the time when we are struggling with something we think, “why me.” When really we should be asking ourselves “what am I meant to learn from this situation.” Any time we go through something difficult we have the choice to allow it to break us or to allow us to bounce back stronger than ever. It really is about how you choose to approach the difficulties that arise in your life.

I always admire people who have overcome all odds. Those people are the most inspirational because when you look at what they went through they have every excuse to have given up completely but instead they chose to persevere.

I recently read a book that literally blew my mind on how resilient people can be when they make it up in their minds to choose a different path for themselves then the one their parents are modelling. North of Normal is a memoir about a girls life whose grandfather had this vision of living off the land. She spent the majority of her younger years in the forest, then as a teenager moved to the city with her mom (who was a teenager herself when she had her). Once in the city she pursued her dream of becoming a model and began modelling at 13. It is a mindblowing story of how if you put your mind to it you really can overcome any obstacle life throws at you. The author, Cea, is also one of the kindest and most welcoming people you will ever meet in your life. She is truly a beacon of hope for anyone trying to bounce back stronger from the curve balls life throws at you.

Take a moment to pause and reflect on your own life. What obstacle have you had to overcome? How did they help you grow and make you a stronger, better version of yourself? Have you bounced back stronger each and every time life has thrown the hard stuff at you? If the hard stuff has been crushing you that is okay, you have the choice at any point to begin down a different path. There may be some twists and turns but if you commit to your personal growth things will get better and you will always bounce back stronger in the end.

For myself, I look at what I have had to overcome and face with never being a big drinker but having alcoholism run in the family and having to walk away from family members who choose enable each others addiction. It has not been an easy path at all, yet it has been a very healing journey. A journey that has allowed me to choose inspirational people to surround myself with who show up as their authentic selves and are there to face the hard things in life with you.

This week take some time to celebrate all of the things you have overcome in life and bounced back stronger. I bet if you take some time to reflect on your life you will be amazed at how strong you truly are! There are an abundance of opportunities for you to step into your power and bounce back stronger if you choose to do so.
