Abundance of Places to See
How often do you get out and see the world around you? Do you purposely set aside time to go and see different places? Or do you spend the majority of your time doing the exact same things over and over again like the movie “Groundhog Day.” There are an abundance of places to see in the world and you will benefit in many ways from being intentional about going out into the world and seeing new places. I know what you are thinking, yes I know there are an abundance of places to see, but I do not have the time or money to go there.
Here is the thing. I bet there are places you have not been to that are all within driving distance of where you live. I know for myself, I try to get out to the mountains to explore as often as possibly. There are so many trails that I have never been on. I could explore the trails within driving distance from my house and probably never complete all of them because there are so many. I bet there are also places where you live that you have never been to before or did not know they existed.
What if you began to be intentional about doing something new once a month. How would that shift your life. Well, you would have something to look forward to. Having something to look forward to brings joy into your life as you anticipate the event and eventually when you do get to experience the event. When you are open to new experiences you bring in joys that you never suspected.
A few weeks ago I was walking with a friend and she mentioned a “Kitty Cafe,” which literally is a coffee shop where you can get a drink, schedule a time and go pet cats and kittens. I literally thought this was such a great idea for people who cannot have pets but really want one and what a great experience for kids. So we booked a time a week later to go check out the “Kitty Cafe.” It was a really great experience and even though it is not a place I would go to on a regular basis it was still a really memorable and great day. Sometimes it is just so nice to go do something different. See something that you have not experienced before. Get out of your mundane routines and just be open.
This week I challenge you to look at your schedule for the next month and be intentional about planning something that you have never done before. It could be as simple as taking your kids to a playground you have never been to before or as extravagant as travelling to a different country. Whatever it is notice how doing something new brings a shift into your life. Try to make seeing new places a regular event and see how things begin to shift.
