Celebrate Your Progress
Do you ever take the time to celebrate how far you have come or do you just move on to the next thing without really thinking about it. Often we are our own worst critics and worst enemies when it comes to seeing and celebrating our own growth. It is time to start taking some time to celebrate your wins no matter how big or small they are.
Take a moment to just sit and think over the events of your life. What events pop up for you? You have overcome so much and you do not even realize it. Everyone has a different journey that they are going through. You have no need to compare the progress you have made to anyone else. Be proud of yourself for the progress you have made in life.
What is one thing you set your mind to and accomplished? Was it starting a new job, getting into university, writing a book, starting a dance class, learning to play an instrument, helping your child learn to read? There are so many ways that you have made progress in your life you just are not often conscious of them because once you achieve it you instantly move on to the next thing. What if you spent a bit of time just to acknowledge how far you have come. How does that feel?
Sometimes when I feel like I am behind where I think I should be in my life I take a moment to look back over what I have been through and really give myself a bit of grace for how far I have come. I am sure if you spent a few minutes looking over your life you would see the huge amount of progress you have made. We are all making progress when we take steps towards our goals, no matter how small the steps are when you look back after a few months or years you will be amazed.
Take a look at where you were in your life ten years ago. What have you accomplished in the last 10 years that you have never really spent any time celebrating the progress you have made. For me it was overcoming a really toxic divorce, building a new home for me and my child, learning to self-publish on Amazon and learning to trust the journey of life. I know there are more things I could add to the list but those are the first ones that came to my mind in the 10 seconds I spent thinking about it.
What about if you looked at what you have accomplished in the last year. The last year can take a few more moments sometimes to think about because you may feel like the last year you have not made as much progress as you would have liked. That is okay, too. Maybe the progress you made was reading more books, or starting your journey of self-care. Whatever it is, I know you have made progress, be grateful for yourself for the progress you have made.
So this week spend some time celebrating your progress, for the last 10 years, last year, last week and even today. You have made an abundance of progress when you choose to look. I know that even today you probably achieved a small win that you can celebrate you for!
