Abundance of Opportunities for A Healthy Body, Mind and Spirit
How often do you think about your health? If you are generally healthy you probably do not think too much about being healthy. It is when our health takes a turn for the worst that we truly realize how lucky we are to be healthy the majority of the time. When you are sick often all you think about is wanting to feel better. Yet when we are healthy we forget to be grateful for feeling healthy. Similar to an injury we don’t think about how lucky we are to walk and move until we have an injury that prevents us from it. We take for granted how easily we can get up and walk from place to place or write with our hands or move until it is taken away. Then we realize how truly abundant we are to live in a healthy body.
If you are healthy today, have you taken a moment to be grateful for having a healthy body, mind and spirit. It is almost like it slips our mind when we are not having health issues yet, beginning to be grateful for the abundance of health when you have it will start to shift your overall well-being.
I have been wanting to start running again. For the last few years, I have been avoiding it and doing other things but something in me is really pushing myself to begin to run again. So this past week I went on two run/ walks. I call them run/ walks because I went out with the intention of running the entire time but clearly needed breaks to walk.
Even though during my running time I think to myself, “why am I doing this? I don’t like running and I am not that great at running.” Yet when I get back from a morning run I feel so much better. Sometimes even better than I feel after an amazing yoga class. When I noticed my mood on the days I ran I just felt so much lighter and full of life than I have in a long time. It was great to take a pause and just notice how lucky I am to be able to go for a run because there are people who cannot. Or who do not live in a safe enough place to just run through the neighbourhood like I do. Taking time to pause and think about it really brings to light how lucky you are if you can go for a run and feel safe.
The health of our minds also comes into play. I notice that when I make a conscious effort to exercise my overall well-being is better too. My anxiety decreases, I have an overall more positive outlook on life and I genuinely just feel better.
So for this week I challenge you to spend some time to pause and be grateful for the abundance of health you do have in your life right now. Then schedule some time into your week to bring healthy activity into your life. It could be going for a walk three times this week, or trying a new sport or starting to go to the gym again. Or forcing yourself to run like I am. Then notice how you feel, see how it shifts your energy for the day and week. Be grateful to yourself to the effort you do put in this week to bring more abundance of health and wellness into your life.
