Abundance of Hobbies

When looking through the lens of abundance in our lives we often overlook the abundance of hobbies that we have the opportunity to participate in if we so choose. Often, if we find ourselves in a rut, you will notice that you have not been spending time doing the hobbies that you once enjoyed. Ensuring you have time to connect to the hobbies that you love to do is an important part of living in the present moment and finding balance in your busy often over scheduled life.

Our hobbies are more than what we do to pass the time. They can play a crucial role in our well-being and personal growth and development. They can help with stress relief by being an outlet that helps you relax and unwind. Hobbies can also help with mindfulness and focus. When you are completely absorbed by what you are doing it helps you enter a state of flow that allows you to live in the present moment free of distractions and other stressors.

Spending time engaged in your hobbies can also give you a creative boost. Many hobbies have opportunities for you to think outside the box and be creative with whatever it is that you are doing. From writing stories, to trying new recipes or doing crafts your hobbies provide opportunities to spark your imagination which can inspire innovation in other areas of your life as well.

If you don’t have many hobbies is there something you have always wanted to try but have not for whatever reason? There is no time like the present to take up a new hobbie. You can literally learn to do anything at any age if you set your mind to it. Always wanted to dance? Take a dance class. Interested in art or croche then just start. Hobbies are more than pastimes. They can play a crucial role in our overall sense of self and well-being.

One of my favourite things to do is go out to the mountains and either hike, ski or paddleboard. When I am not getting out to the mountains as much I notice my mental health really begins to go downhill because I am not spending as much time getting out and doing what truly makes me feel most alive and connected to nature.

Take a moment to think about what your hobbies are. How much time to you get to spend doing those hobbies each week? If you have not had any time for hobbies, then set aside some time this week where you can just reconnect to something that you love to do.
